Hello all! I'll begin by introducing myself. I'm Nellie Cole, and I'm a poet, student, and the tutor for Pen to Paper. This venture began back in March 2018, and following a successful season at the Peel and Stone bakery in Harborne, we're back (bigger, better, and free!) at our new venue of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG). My hope for the course is that you all get something out of the sessions, make some great connections, and produce some work you are happy with!

Who's next?

  3. Hi! I'm Mina, I'm a 17 year old poet from Bosnia that enjoys food, sleep and Netflix haha. I've been writing for about two years now and poetry is one of the only things I've ever really adamantly pursued or stuck with without wavering. I'd love to develop my writing and meet some other poets in a new environment and I look forward to meeting everyone :)

  4. Hi everyone! I'm Sallyanne and I know some of you from the Pen to Paper workshops earlier in the year. I've been writing poetry and generally immersing myself in the local poetry scene for about a year now, and I'm really excited to meet and write with you all. Nellie is a wonderful teacher, and I know we're all in for a fantastic set of workshops. So excited about the new venue too, and the potential inspiration that working in a museum will bring.

  5. Hello, Steve Harrison born in Yorkshire but now living in The West Midlands in Wellington.
I was attracted by the venue [great bit of Victoriana and a handy stroll from the station],
I've seen Nellie read her work and like it and I'm now in a creative breathing space between caring and being cared for and can treat myself to all sorts of courses to improve my craft as writer, poet and performer.

  6. I'm Jood ('sounds like food'), and I come from Oswestry in the Borders. I met Nellie at one of the Pant writing workshops a few weeks ago when we had a wonderful walk up on Llynclys Common – hope you have good memories of it too, Nellie. I’ve been writing poetry for about two and a half years now and am loving it – verbal jigsaw puzzles! I hope to improve my writing of course – and maybe to set up a system for writing more regularly – things are a bit haphazard at present.

  7. Hello everyone, my name is Tarik, from Birmingham and I'll be attending for the first time tomorrow. I'm hoping to learn lots, especially regarding form and using imagery. I am a performance poet and keen to write more for the page also. Grateful to Nellie for putting on these workshops and looking forward to meeting other writers :)
